IMPORTANT SENIOR DATES 2016-2017

 

  • ACT and SAT registration information is available in the counselor’s office or the College and Career Center by Room 100.  If you have not tested, register for the testing IMMEDIATELY!
  • September-May Scholarships (mainly national organizations) with mostly fall due dates begin to be available in the scholarship folder located in the college and career center room #100. Listen for scholarship offerings on the morning announcements. Be responsible for mailing and meeting all deadlines.
  • College Visitation Days - information available on the colleges’ websites.
    • Seniors get 2 college visit days that do not count as an absence.  Bring a letter from the college to the attendance office.
  • September 19- Senior Parents Meeting – AHS Cafeteria 6:30 p.m.
  • September 21 - November 22Cap and Gown Sales $40
  • September 27 -College and Scholarship Orientation presented during English Class
  • September 30 - Baby Ads early bird discount deadline
  • October 1Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available online-must have

  • October 13-Financial Aid Workshop for senior parents in AHS Library-6-8p
  • October 14Deadline for Senior Yearbook Photos-contact Western Photo
  • October 18 - Senior Class Mtg. during FOCUS - Graduation Announcements
  • October 25 - ASVAB
  • October 21Yearbook Baby Ads last day to submit
  • October 25 - Amarillo Area College Night 6pm to 8pm Civic Center-Grand Plaza over 50  

                     colleges will be available to answer questions and give information.

  • October 25 - Graduation Announcement orders- Commons 12-6p
  • November 8-Graduation Announcement orders- Commons 2-6p
  • November 25– Cap and Gown now $50.
  • December 26- Cap and Gown now $60 until sales end February 17.
  • January 20- Senior Scholarship Orientation for spring scholarships (during English classes)
  • February 12Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Applications are due
  • February 22- General Scholarship Applications due –commons
  • March/April TBA Graduation speech tryouts-see Mrs. Kelly, Counselor
